SUZUKI SAMURAI LONG BODY 1.9 TD

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of having a short drive of the new Suzuki Samurai Long
Body 1.9 TD. It's not the first time I've driven a long body, the wife and I rented one in Spain
a couple of years ago. That was a 1300 cc 5 speed, no power steering, nothing ! I enjoyed
driving it then and I enjoyed driving the new one now.

The 1900 TD motor is the same as that from the Vitara, but somewhat detuned, so of course,
there's less horse power. ( WHY ?? ) This aside, the long Samurai performs rather well, power
and torque enough for the soft stuff and hills. One thing I found strange was the power steering,
up until now, Samurais had no power steering, wow, what a difference ! Power steering is now
standard on all Samurai models. Off road, it's typical Suzuki. Plenty of ground clearance, tough
ladder chassis and almost unstoppable in any driving conditions.

If I had the 489000 Belgian Franks to buy a Long Body Samurai, I personally wouldn't hesitate.
There's a lot going for the Suzuki and very little against. One thing in particular that bothered me
somewhat, was all the engine noise from the 1.9 TD. It got to be a little too much by the time my
hour was up .... now, where can I get my hands on that much money ...... get an extra quick pick .....
Will try to get a more detailed test done before the end of the year.
